Meghan McCain: I think tax cuts, guns, and strippers sounds like a pretty all-American platform to me.
Jesse Watters: Here, here.
Lisa Boothe: Are you envisioning the bumper sticker?
Watters: Even Juan can get excited about this.
McCain: Honestly, we need more blue collar real Americans in the Senate. So, if he wants to run and get in there, god love him.
I always tell people, don’t turn on the news all that often. It sounds like it’s depressing, distracting. Candidly, I just don’t let it distract me. I know what we need to do. We need to fix this tax code.
– Congressman Paul Ryan, July 6, 2017, discussing his sharp focus on tax cuts for the rich despite the biggest scandal in political history unfolding at his acquiescence
TRUMP: Well I’m going to roll (out) probably on Wednesday, around Wednesday of next week, we’re putting out a massive tax reform — business and for people — we want to do both. We’ve been working on it (unintelligible). Secretary Mnuchin is a very talented person, very smart. Very successful (unintelligible). … We’re going to be putting that out on Wednesday or shortly thereafter. Let me leave a little room just in case (unintelligible). … And that’s a big story, because a lot of people think I’m going to put it out much later.
AP: Do you have any details on that in terms of rates?
TRUMP: Only in terms that it will be a massive tax cut. It will be bigger, I believe, than any tax cut ever. Maybe the biggest tax cut we’ve ever had. …
– President Donald J. Trump, April 23, 2017
You start out in 1954 by saying, “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968 you can’t say “nigger”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “Nigger, nigger.”
– Republican Party Strategist and RNC Chair Lee Atwater, 1981
Trump is so fire-breathing, so energetic, so cunning, so real, and he’s having results so amazing that it just makes me endeared to Trump – I’m ready to die for Trump, at this point. And I’m already ready to die for America, it’s the same feeling I have for America, because he is America, you’re America.
And I know that Trump and [Stephen] Bannon really know what are happening – what’s happening, they’re really trying to cut taxes, they’re really trying to get loans to small businesses, they’re really trying to get us out of carbon taxes and Obamacare, and they’re doing it, they’re delivering. And it’s so well thought out; it’s so good. I’ve studied history, I’ve covered politics for 25 years, 21 on air. And I’ve never seen anything like this. This is bigger than 1776 if Trump can deliver.
And then I see all the news — I’ve got articles today, “Ha ha, there’s tens of thousands of bureaucrats that are going to leak everything you’re doing militarily and sabotage you.” That’s called treason. That’s executionable.
